The debates between meditation and medication as therapeutic interventions for mental health has become increasingly relevant in modern healthcare. Both approaches are widely utilized for managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress, yet they differ in their mechanisms, benefits, and long-term effectiveness. This article compares and contrasts meditation, a non-pharmacological practice aimed at enhancing mindfulness and emotional regulation, with medication, a pharmacological treatment designed to alter brain chemistry and provide symptom relief. Through an exploration of clinical studies and scientific evidence, the article evaluates the effectiveness, safety, and long-term impact of both methods. Findings suggest that while medication offers rapid symptom relief and is critical for managing severe mental health conditions, meditation provides a holistic, sustainable approach with minimal side effects, promoting emotional resilience and overall well-being. This review highlights that meditation, when practiced regularly, can reduce reliance on medication and contribute to lasting mental health improvements. However, for acute or complex conditions, medication remains an essential component of treatment. Ultimately, a combination of both therapies may provide the most comprehensive approach to mental health care.Downloads
