Authorship & Contributorship Policy
The Journal of Meat Science (JMS) follows the ICMJE authorship criteria and the CRediT taxonomy for contributor roles.
1. Authorship Criteria (ICMJE)
To qualify as an author, each contributor must:

Make substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, or data analysis

Draft the manuscript or critically revise it

Approve the final version for publication

Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work
Those who do not meet these four criteria must be acknowledged but not listed as authors.
2. CRediT Contributor Roles
Authors must specify individual contributions using the CRediT taxonomy:

Conceptualization

Methodology
-
Investigation
-
Data Curation
-
Formal Analysis
-
Writing – Original Draft

Writing – Review & Editing

Supervision
-
Project Administration
-
Funding Acquisition
3. Changes in Authorship
Any changes (addition, deletion, or order change):

Must be requested in writing
-
Must include signed agreement from all authors
-
Will not be accepted after acceptance unless justified
4. Ghostwriting & Guest Authorship
-
Ghostwriting, gift authorship, and honorary authorship are prohibited.
-
Violations will lead to rejection or retraction.
