Ethics and Malpractice

Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

The Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction (IJAR) upholds the highest standards of integrity, academic rigor, and transparency in scholarly publishing. Our policies are developed in alignment with international best practices and follow recommendations from COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and WAME. All stakeholders—authors, reviewers, editors, and readers—are expected to adhere to these principles.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Submit only original, unpublished work.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Provide all necessary ethical approvals for animal experimentation.

  • Disclose funding, conflicts of interest, and contributions.

  • Respond promptly to editorial queries.

  • Report any errors discovered after publication.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Declare conflicts of interest.

  • Avoid using unpublished material for personal benefit.

  • Report ethical concerns (plagiarism, duplication, unethical methods).

3. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Make decisions based on scholarly merit alone.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of submissions.

  • Ensure unbiased and fair peer review.

  • Act promptly on allegations of misconduct.

  • Avoid handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

4. Misconduct Handling

IJAR follows COPE flowcharts for managing:

  • Plagiarism

  • Duplicate publication

  • Authorship disputes

  • Data fabrication/falsification

  • Unethical research practices

Depending on severity, consequences may include correction, rejection, or retraction.

5. Transparency & Accountability

Any changes affecting the article’s academic record (errata, corrigenda, retractions) will be published promptly and clearly linked to the original article.
